This weekend I went up to my parents house to scout out some photo shoot areas for an upcoming family session I have coming. So, I decided to take pictures of a friend and family member... Lacy!

It is in the eyes...?
The eyes are the windows to the soul...
It is a saying we all have heard time and time again. I think it is slightly true. I love seeing photographs focused on the face. Expressions, skin and yes, EYES really give you a sense of who this person might be. Or even who they want you to think they are.
In photography, it is always a good idea to concentrate on the eyes. You can get little catch lights and really make them pop. But I want to challenge myself to show personality and the SOUL without having this conventional view of concentrating on the eyes.
I still have some time to go...
But I still love some good up close, personal face shots.

Sailor: Tales of a Runaway Circus Performer
A few weeks ago I was contacted by an acquaintance of mine. She wanted me to take pictures of her son, but not the typical kind. She sent me a photo of a toddler with sad clown makeup on in a wagon as inspiration. I thought, "GREAT! here is my chance to do something creative." So naturally I jumped all over the idea. I started to sketch and I got the idea in my head he should be a runaway from the circus. Abandoned on the railroad. It wasn't but just a few weeks ago my husband and I seen a circus train pass through town.
So without further ado...

My Introduction: I love unicorns.
There is a great deal of pressure in the first POST.
I am going to start off with this... I LOVE UNICORNS.
Besides my love for unicorns, I have a love for the arts. I went to college (for 2 years) and studied fine arts. During this time I took a black and white film photography class. I was intimidated by this class. All I had was a 1982 RICOH SLR film camera. Learning to develop film and how to take pictures without relying on post production really gave me a good solid background.
I got my first DSLR in 2008.... BEHIND I KNOW!
It has been a journey ever since and I finally am finding my voice in it all.
So join me! As a magical whimsical creature and a photographer!
